Amsterdam - Museums and Canals

Here are a few glimpses of Amsterdam - Museum Park, Van Gogh Museum, Canals and Streets.... First, the train from Utrecht to Amsterdam.

This building used to be a theatre...

The Rijks Museum from the outside.

The Van Gogh Museum.

At this point, the security guard informed me very politely that photography is not allowed.

And that taking a picture at this spot is allowed, so he did so.

At the entrance.

With my colleague, a native of Amsterdam.

This is the school that he went to, about 200 metres from the Van Gogh Museum.

Canals, flowers, cycles... add cheese, smiling faces and water engineering, and this represents what much of the Netherlands is about.

Pottery.

Flower market.

The back of the flower market.

A quiet, residential area and park.

The first Stock Exchange.

Houses have settled unevenly on the soft ground.

Views of the sea and canals.

There are over 2,000 houseboats in Amsterdam, of varying shapes and sizes, some are designer houseboats.

Anne Frank's home, now a tourist attraction.

Pulleys are used to hoist furniture into the homes. The facade of the homes tilt out a little bit, to avoid damage to the facade.

Old factories and warehouses.
